SHAWL KNITTING MINISTRY
The Plymouth Shawl Knitting Ministry combines compassion and knitting into a sacred practice. It not only reaches those in need, it also profoundly touches those who make the shawls.
The Plymouth Shawl Knitting Ministry combines compassion and knitting into a sacred practice. It not only reaches those in need, it also profoundly touches those who make the shawls.
Our knitters have made more than 300 shawls, and they are still knitting. Shawls are prayerfully knit, then blessed before being given to people undergoing surgery, suffering a loss, facing a long-term illness, celebrating a marriage or welcoming a new baby.
The Shawl Knitting Ministry invites people of all ages and all levels of knitting experience to join them Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Welcome Lounge in the Center for Spiritual Growth.
If you know of someone in need of a shawl or would like more information, call Plymouth members Jean Walker at 515.277.9630 or Janet Jennings at 515.222.0831.
COZY MINISTRY
The Cozy Ministry welcomes people who like to sew or knit, as well as people who know only how to iron or use a pair of scissors. The group makes hundreds of quilts, mittens and hats to share with people who need warmth and comfort.
Cozy Ministry meets first and fourth Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring a sack lunch and stay the whole time, or come for just a part of it. Enjoy the fellowship and help to make someone else's life easier. For more information, contact Plymouth members Ginny Denman at 515.255.1337 or True Sherman at 515.276.4218.
