Bill is an Honorably Retired Presbyterian Church (USA) Teaching Elder who served churches in Kentucky, Michigan, Texas, and Missouri. Raised in St. Joseph, MO, he earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration at Missouri Western State University, then a Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. While “tent making” at a small rural church in Trimble, Missouri, he helped start one of the first outcomes-based programmatic accrediting bodies (International Accreditation Council for Business Education). While at IACBE, he traveled to all fifty states and over sixty countries working with public and private institutions of higher education. Here in Des Moines, Bill served two years as a hospice chaplain.
Bill and Sarah moved to Iowa during the pandemic for Sarah’s job at Des Moines University. Together, they have two children, Robby, age 20, and Marian, age 15. As the family enjoys music, they chose a home in West Des Moines so they could be in the WDMCS district, which offers both choral music and string music education to its students. The family chose Plymouth originally for the music, youth programs and the congregation’s progressive understanding of the world that God has given us. Bill and Sarah sing in the Chancel Choir and Marian sings with The Matins. Last summer, Bill was privileged to serve as a chaperone for the Matins tour. He looks forward to meeting more of the congregation in the coming months.
